Admissions will be offered under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) as well as five-year integrated postgraduate courses, both of which include multiple exit options in line with the National Education Policy framework.

Registration and Key Dates

The admission portal, JK Admissions Portal, will go live on May 9, 2026. Candidates can complete registration and preference filling from 10:00 AM onwards. The application window will remain open until May 27, 2026, closing at 7:00 PM.

The first merit list is scheduled to be released on May 30, followed by admission formalities and fee submission between June 1 and June 6. The second merit list will be published on June 9, with the admission process continuing until June 15.

For candidates who are not allotted seats in earlier rounds, a spot admission round will be conducted from June 18 to June 25 to fill vacant seats.

Coverage and Areas Affected

The admission process will be implemented across 142 government degree colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, offering more than 60 major subjects. This includes institutions in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, ensuring participation from urban centres as well as remote and rural areas.

Academic timelines differ slightly based on regional zones. Colleges in the winter zone are expected to complete admissions by June 15, while those in the summer zone have a deadline extending up to July 15, 2026.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria

Admissions will be granted strictly on the basis of Class 12 (10+2) merit. Candidates will be required to select their preferred colleges and courses during the online application process.

Subject combinations and course availability may vary from one college to another and will be visible during the preference-filling stage on the portal.

Documents Required

Applicants must upload scanned copies of essential documents, including:

  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets
  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Aadhaar details
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

Authorities have clarified that pending or under-process category certificates will not be accepted at the time of application.

Application Fee and Assistance

A non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 will be charged. To support applicants, counselling and facilitation centres have been set up across degree colleges to assist with form submission and preference selection.

What This Means for Students

The centralised admission system is expected to streamline the process, reduce duplication of applications, and ensure transparency in seat allocation. With a wide range of courses and institutions included, students across Jammu and Kashmir will have access to a unified platform for higher education admissions.

Candidates are advised to carefully review the admission guidelines and complete their applications within the stipulated timeline to avoid last-minute issues.
