Stubble Burning: It is also known as parali burning is a method of removing residue of paddy crop from the field to sow wheat or the next crop. Stubble burning is done from the last week of September to November. It is a process of setting on fire the straw stubble which is left after the harvesting of grains.

It is usually done in the areas that use the combined harvesting method which leaves crop residue behind. The process of burning residue is one of the major causes of air pollution in most of the parts of north India, deteriorating the air quality index.
