IIT Madras is inviting applications from school students for the Stockholm Water Prize

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced the commencement of applications from school students for the Global Water Challenge Stockholm Junior Water Prize. Those who are interested and meet the eligibility criteria can access detailed information on the institute's official website. The deadline for submitting application forms is April 30, 2024.

School students in classes 9 to 12, aged 15 and above, can apply through the provided link: https://sjwpindia.in/. This initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate the innovative endeavors of young minds in tackling crucial water-related issues. Organized by the sustainability venture studio at the School of Sustainability, IIT Madras, in collaboration with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the event is sponsored by Aquamap - Center for Water Management and Policy, IIT Madras.

The top 10 teams will be awarded the National Water Champions Award, while the top 25 teams will have the opportunity to showcase their projects at IIT Madras. Additionally, each of the top 25 teams will receive training in presentation skills and certificates from SJWP India and IIT Madras. Schools demonstrating a commitment to water and environmental concerns will also be recognized.

The competition seeks to highlight exceptional projects addressing a range of global water challenges, encompassing issues such as Water Pollution, Disparities in Access to clean water and sanitation, Water Scarcity, Elevated Groundwater Stress, Agricultural Water Utilization, Water Governance & Management, and Degradation of Ecosystems.
